" Art thru the Ages"    3rd-5th grades.

Home school moms ... take a sigh of relief.. art education is taken care of! Each student will create a
portfolio of work, art journal/ sketch book as well as MANY hands on projects. This class proceeds
through art sequentially from Bible times through the modern period.  The students will learn to look at
great art through picture study and games!!!

A FEW of the projects will include work from all mediums such as : Cartouches from Egyptian
times,.pharaohs masks from clay,Hieroglyphics,Greek vases,mosaics, illuminated manuscripts,
painting ( under the table!!!) of the Sistine Chapel, upside down Mona Lisa's, Pen and Ink
Rembrandts, Watercolor icon paintings, wood panels from Early Christian art, van Gogh's sunflowers,
Monet's Bridge painting in Acrylics, Matisse cut outs and tiles( Goldfish painting), Picasso Pastels and
Jackson Pollock's  use of dripping and splattering in Modern art. We will look at the lives of the artist
through a Christian world view as we look at each time period. You will be AMAZED what your children
will learn! We will have art exhibits each semester as well.

OOTB co oridnates many field trip opportunities for our students through our studio... the Dunwoody
group will be included in these as well.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ART THRU THE AGES

Grades 6-8

This will be the same sequential program using the history of art with HANDS ON studio projects. This
class will advance to farther work in art mediums using papermaking and linoleum printing, painting on
frescos,Greek Architecture study  (drawing and in clay)

Greek vases,Mosaics,Early Christian Diptych,Early Christian icon cards, Book of Kells study ... Celtic
Crosses,Leonardo drawing,Still life collages, Self portraits,pointillism paintings,Monet's Water lilies
painting,Degas horses and Ballerinas in pastels,Modern art of  Audubon, American Artists,Matisse,
Picasso( collage sculptures),We will use many mediums drawing, charcoals, pastels of oil and chalk,
watercolor, watercolor pencils,acrylic, on canvas, clay and more! Through games, visuals, picture
study and great masterpieces we will help your  student appreciate art while experiencing it as well

Your students will have a notebook to take home any of their information about the time period /
artists. recognizing the  differences in time periods, artists, their inspirations, will be emphasized. This
class will be taught with a Christian worldview.


ALl OOTB field trips will be available to Dunwoody Homschool group as well.
