Dunwoody Homeschool Classes
High School United States History, Advanced and Academic
Instructor:  Mrs. Sally ten Pas, B. A., M. A.
4253 Bridge Court
Norcross, Ga. 30092
678)346-5711
Class:  Thursday, 9:30-11:00

Using a chronological approach, this class will focus not only on content but also on interpretation of
political, social, diplomatic, and economic issues that the United States has faced in its history.  Students
will learn to do basic historical research, essay writing, and analysis of primary sources.  Comparing
developments over time and understanding multiple causation will be core concepts in our study.

Two tracks will be offered in the same class.  The Academic track will be college prep with a standard high
school textbook and assignments that help students organize information and develop a knowledgeable
overview of our history.

The Advanced track will prepare the student to take the Advanced Placement Exam and possibly earn
college credit.  This track will require additional reading and writing assignments in order to be prepared
for the exam.  The student will need to be self-motivated and have access to a library or web resource
that contains scholarly journals in order to do the required reading.  The text may be different for this
track because the course is college-level.

The cost for the class will be $50 per month for Academic and $60 per month for Advanced.  Registration
fee for Academic will be $25 and for Advanced will be $50.  The Dunwoody Homeschool Classes
registration form should be used, and checks sent to Sally ten Pas, 4253 Bridge Court, Norcross, GA
30092.
