CHEMISTRY
Welcome to Chemistry. We are looking forward to an exciting year! Your presence and participation in
this course is so appreciated. Let us pray together for all to be done for the Glory of God.
This class will be used as a springboard to first of all point out the wonders of creation and the mastery of
our Creator. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. After our faith, we are encouraged to add
virtue to that faith. This class will be an excellent opportunity for you to develop character and study
habits that will prepare you for future endeavors. The bar will be raised for many of you, but I trust that
with faithfulness, you will have no problems hitting the mark.
You will be expected to attend class, take notes, do your reading assignments, review questions,
vocabulary lists, and memorization work each week. Your weekly assignments will be collected each
week. Your notebooks will be collected on the first week of each month. You will have a quiz every
week on vocabulary and pop quizzes on the material from the previous chapter.to be administered at
home to save class time. I strongly suggest, due to the volume of material that must be covered each
week, that you work each chapter in the sections suggested by the text daily. Don’t cram all your
homework into one night but spend at least 1 hour per day on studies. I also suggest that you look at
new material briefly before class so that you are prepared to ask questions.
In addition to notebooks, lab books, quizzes and tests, you are to prepare three reports to place in your
notebooks to be graded. Prepare to present one as an oral presentation before your peers. These
scientific biographies are to be two pages, 12 font, with at least three sources in your bibliography (of
which one is not allowed to be an internet source.)
I am available for conferences during my in house tutor hours. Students enrolled in the class do not pay
extra for tutoring.
Please contact me if you have any questions at all. There is no question or prayer request that is too
insignificant. I will enjoy the one on one communication.
Again, I count it a great privilege to walk alongside with you at this point in your lives. It is going to be
exciting watching each of you grow in wisdom and stature.
In His Service and for His Glory, Mrs. Coe
