High School Chemistry w/Lab

Have you wondered why hydrangeas are blue? (or are they pink?) Why your cake did not rise? Why you need
salt in your ice cream freezer? Join us for chemistry lecture and lab. Three preliminary lessons of formula
writing, balancing equations and mathematical manipulations will help us hit the ground running as we plow
through a sometimes-intimidating course. Homework will require about 5 hours a week.  Prerequisite: Algebra I
Tuition: $540 if paid by the beginning of the course, or $70.00/month
Preliminary classes:  August - 3 classes during the last week of August

•        Exploring Creation with Chemistry (2nd Edition) by Dr. Jay Wile
•        We will supplement using a public school text
Supplies:
•        Scientific Calculator needed ($10.00 variety is sufficient)
•        Loose-leaf notebook

Kathryn Romanoff taught chemistry in the Metro Atlanta Area for eighteen years until becoming a stay at home
mom. During her tenure as a public school teacher she taught various chemistry courses including Advanced
Placement Chemistry. She also taught chemistry to homeschoolers for eight of the last ten years. Mrs.
Romanoff has a BS in Education from the University of Tennessee and a Masters of Education form Georgia
State University. Currently she is homeschooling her thirteen-year-old daughter and eleven-year-old son. The
Romanoff family worships at Redeemer Presbyterian Orthodox Church.
