Honors or AP Calculus AB

Course description:
Calculus is the study of the infinite.  While most people see calculus as the culmination of
their math career, it is actually the foundation of most upper level mathematics and
science.   This course will introduce limits, derivatives, and integrals, as well as their
applications.  This course will prepare the student for the AP Calculus AB exam.

The College Board has instituted a new auditing process for AP courses.  This process is
to ensure that AP courses that appear on transcripts are to their standards.  At the time of
this posting, the College Board Auditing division is closed and will not open for a few
weeks.  It is my intention that this course be called AP Calculus AB; however, regardless of
the title of the class, it is a preparation course for the AP Calculus AB exam in May of 2009.

Prerequisites:
Algebra, geometry, trigonometry, analytic geometry, and elementary functions (including
linear, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric, inverse trigonometric,
and piecewise defined), as well as, the properties of functions, the algebra of functions,
and the graphs of functions, and values of trigonometric functions at 0, π/6, π/4, π/3, π/2,
and their multiples.

Registration fee:  $30
Please note - there must be a minimum of five students for this class.
Tuition: $90 per month

Materials:
A graphing calculator is required for this course.  The instructor will be using the TI-84.
There is no required textbook; all materials will be provided by the instructor.
