Prerequisites

Students must be in grade 10, 11, or 12 with prior AP course
experience or with the permission of the instructor.

Course Description

This course will provide a chronological survey of art from
prehistoric times to the post-modern era, based on an
understanding of the cultural and historical contexts of the
works.  Although major emphasis will be placed on Western
art, study will also include art from cultures outside of the
Western tradition.  The course will use guidelines from the
College Board’s AP Art History course description to prepare
the student for the AP Art History exam in May.  This class will
involve significant reading and writing requirements.  Families
should note that there is mature content in some of the works
addressed in the text.

Supplementary materials: books, film clips, slides, art prints,
CDs, and activities
(provided by instructor)

Schedule

Classes will meet for a three hour session weekly, with field
trips to be arranged.  More class time may be needed in the
weeks leading up to the AP exam.  Summer work will also be
assigned.

Monthly fee: $75/month for nine months
Registration fee: $25

Linda Morris earned her BA in Psychology at Wake Forest
University and taught students with learning disabilities from
1980 to 1981.  She homeschooled with her husband and four
children for twenty years, teaching seven AP classes,
including Art History, over the course of their studies.  
Currently, Linda is enrolled in a Masters degree program in
education at Georgia State University.
Dunwoody Classes

Family Fees

The membership fee for Dunwoody Classes for 2010-2011
will be
$40 per semester for one student or $60 per
semester for multiple students enrolled, which
includes unlimited class choices
. The membership fee is
made payable to Becky Humphrey and must be paid before
or by the first day of class.

The facility fee for each family this year is $40 for the entire
school year.
A separate check needs to be made out to
North Peachtree Baptist Church in the amount of $40
and sent or delivered to Becky Humphrey on or before the
first day of classes.

Teacher registration and tuition are made payable separately
to the individual teachers.
